II International Forum “Arctic Shipbuilding”
II International Forum “Arctic Shipbuilding” took place on June 20-21, 2019 in Arkhangelsk Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov. Its goal was completely achieved, i.e. to focus the attention of professional association on prospects and challenges of the Russian shipbuilding industry in the realm of Arctic industrial projects.
This is a promising trend confirmed by high rank of the Forum participants: government of the Arkhangelsk Region, Nenets Autonomous District, Murmansk Region and Republic of Sakha, departments of the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg), RF Ministry of Transport, top managers of big industrial companies.
UEC-GT, JSC demonstrated power generation and gas compressor equipment for various Arctic projects. One of the dramatic issues raised in the Forum was discussion of the Kamennomysskoye-more project (Gazprom’s natural gas field in the Ob Bay water area, reserves being 535 billion cubic meters). UEC-GT, JSC showcased the model of the compressor station based on GPA-25 gas compressor set planned to be supplied within the framework of the Kamennomysskoye-more project. In addition to gas compressor equipment, UEC-GT, JSC will supply to the Ob Bay a gas turbine power plant based on the six GTA-6RM; marine GTA-8RM gas turbine generator sets are being developed to be used in the offshore ice-resistant platform “A” for Gazprom’s Kamennomysskoye-more field.  The sets for ice-resistant platform “A” construction are planned to be supplied in Q42021.
Sergey Korotkevich, Regional Power Industry Development Program Director of UEC-GT, JSC spoke on “Domestic Gas Turbine Equipment for Ships, Offshore Platforms, Coastal Facilities and LNG Projects”. His speech included information about marine gas turbine engines (UEC-Saturn, JSC), SGTG-8 pilot generator set and promising gas turbine power generating sets driven by marine gas turbines.
A debate was opened by the representatives of shipbuilding research centers (Central Marine Research and Design Institute (CNIIMF), Saint-Petersburg State Marine Technical University), representatives of United Shipbuilding Corporation and FSUE Atomflot. Their competent opinions and questions will be taken into consideration when planning further activities in this direction.
