On October 4 – 6 in St. Petersburg there was held Offshore Marintec Russia forum on shipbuilding and development of the continental shelf, where leading Russian and international companies shared their best practices in process support of offshore engineering and development of integrated marine structures.
Nowadays, leading Russian oil and gas companies (i.e. Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Rosneft and Lukoil) are planning to develop new raw hydrocarbons deposits on the Russian shelf. Therefore, offshore structures and coastal projects power supply issue is getting more and more relevant.
Currently, electric power is supplied to offshore structures by gas turbine and gas reciprocating generator sets manufactured by foreign companies.
Considering the increased demand for the marine power generator sets and in accordance with import substitution programme implemented by the Russian Federation government, UEC – Gas Turbines, JSC along with NPO Saturn, PJSC set up to designing the gas turbine generator sets based on marine gas turbine engines rated at 4-10 MW.
The special session “Energy Infrastructure for Offshore Oil and Gas Projects” of the Offshore Marintec Russia conference was addressed by Alexander Karaoglanov, UEC – Gas Turbines Deputy Managing Director on Commerce who represented the project of Russian power generator set of outdoor design to be used on the offshore structures and based on dual fuel marine turbine Е70/8RD rated at 8 MW manufactured by NPO Saturn.
Thus, for the first time UEC – Gas Turbines declared its determination to manufacture unique-in-Russia offshore power generating equipment as a part of the import substitution programme.
