UEC-GT claims an interest in the market share of gas turbine packages for offshore platforms. The first Russian 8MW marine gas turbine unit has been developed by the company.
The unit is capable of electric and heat power supply to offshore platforms located in the Russian shelf. For many years, the foreign companies have dominated in this market; indeed, the Russian equipment of this class did not exist. Now you can touch it. GTA-8 meets all requirements of the Russian Maritime Register, i.e. this unit is capable of running in unfavorable weather conditions exposed to sea salt and water. Our company has been promoting this new project since its development, the recent presentation has been successfully held on 27 June at MIOGE 2017. The first Russian gas turbine marine unit for offshore application was presented during the exposition. MIOGE 2017 was convened in Crocus Expo, Moscow, within 27-30 June. 652 exhibiting companies from 40 countries attended this exposition. The major suppliers and end users of the oil and gas industry met there. UEC-Gas Turbines being a part of the United Engine Corporation was a key player at that forum. Alexander Karaoglanov, Deputy Managing Director – Commercial Director of UEC-GT, introduced GTA-8 marine gas turbine unit to both exhibitors and visitors. This new product has enabled the company to capture a new market share.
- Development of new advanced equipment is a priority for UEC. That’s way, the today’s event is crucial for us, - said Alexander Karaoglanov. – We have declared expansion of the power generating products line offered by UEC-GT. The market of gas turbine drives for Russian shelf is now occupied by foreign manufacturers. We plan to come into the market with a competitive product and to achieve a strong stand there. Furthermore, some large companies of oil and gas industry have already expressed their interest in this equipment.
GTA-8 is based on the technical solutions implemented in the highly efficient commercial marine engine E70/8RD developed by NPO Saturn. GTA-8 generator set can be applied as a part of marine electric propulsion systems; ships/platforms for prospecting drilling; ships/platforms for hydrocarbon production, processing and storage; drilling platforms; onshore, dock-side floating facilities and trunk lines. So, we can say this is completely new equipment in UEC-GT product line with good prospects to succed in this challenge.
